Speakers!

Speakers, drivers, mid-ranges . . . whatever you prefer to call them, I have lots of them! Some are in better condition than others. That is to say some are working nicely, some just need the cones repaired, and a couple probably have burnt out voice coils and are only useful for the magnets.

Most are round and are 5", 5.25", or 6.5", and a couple are either 5"x7" or 6"x8". If anyone wants them, I’ll bring them with me to Hackspace tonight. Please also let me know your general purpose for wanting them so I can bring you better ones if you’re using them as speakers, and worse ones if you just want the huge magnets off the back.

Do you have 12 of the same size speaker?

I have a dozen that are all about the same size! Close to the same size, at least. They seem to be about six inches, though mind you some of them are in mounts that I haven’t removed yet, so there is probably a bit of variation within maybe a quarter of an inch. This doesn’t mean they won’t work for this design, it just means that the bezels will all need identical outer dimensions but some will have slightly smaller inner dimensions. In all honestly, I would probably lasercut the mounts rather than 3D print them, unless you have a printer with a very large bed.

The other thing is that some are working but need new cones. These are about $5-$10 a pair.

I supposed I’ll bring what I have and there is always the opportunity to get more automotive speakers in the future!

All automotive, so 4 ohm?

@Lukeo You could use the speakers to make a Bluetooth boombox workshop. (and hopefully instructables)

Ohhh yes, speakers please. Bluetooth boom boxes for everybody.

Awesome, I want/need/(required by law) to dance.

A portable speaker system will help make it less weird.
