This can be a single board or a daughter board, 2 board solution. The only requirement is it easy to use.

You could easily use a nodemcu (or similar) with any i2c boards. Performance wise, you might want to look into the esp32. It would depend on what kind of resolution/sensitivity you’d need really.
(Lee’s has ADXL345, which has arduino libraries)
