Polishing stone / diamond hones for lathe tool bits

Do we already have something of the sort to give the tool bits a nice finish?

Not that a bit of polishing could compensate for my lack of grinding skills :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a small one that is kicking around our shop, it was a promo thing from our Kennametal rep. Have yet to find one for purchase. it’s maybe 1/4" thick x 1" x 3" Those are the best for that.

Maybe something like this one the 1000 grit one would suffice. Woodworking Hand & Power Tools & Accessories - Lee Valley Tools

You really want it to take out the grinding marks on the leading edge. I sometimes would do the top face as well to lessen the effect of built up edge.

Thanks, I’ll be looking for the stone next time I’m in the space.

Those diamond hones look nice. Making a small box for them would be a nice first laser cutter project for me as well. I might just donate a set of these to the space.
