Yeah, actually I just flashed on of them to the latest meshcore image last weekend. I’m not very familiar with meshcore though, the experience is pretty different. I’m out in Burnaby though, probably just no other nodes around.
Hey everyone, n00b here just up at Commercial and 3rd. Diving into mesh and you folks quickly popped up in my research. I regularly pass by on my way to grab a coffee at Uprising and have for about 14 years. I’m a tech tinkerer (arduino, sensors, eurorack, lasers, interactive installations, amplifiers, touchDesigner, python, local, open-weight LLMs on an rtx 4090..) and have always been curious about VHS but thought it was a private thing. I’m not really sure why. So i’m super excited to see that it’s not!! I hope to make it out to a Tuesday night very soon. I think i’ve decided to go meshcore vs tastic and might just start with a heltec v4? Any big reasons not to?

Welcome! There is a DIY synth night this Friday, if you’re interested in dropping by. I’ll be there.
awesome! A bit last minute but I’ll see if the fam has anything planned. If not I could put a little skiff together…
You should be able to check coverage from the app?
I am in New Westminster close to Burnaby and have a repeater and nodes live most of the time
The V4 with Meshcore is a great option. I fired mine up this week and was able to hit the VHS repeater no problem from Mt. Pleasant.
That’s awesome. Have been too busy lately to dive in but I’ll grab one soon. Glad to hear you are having some success!
I got my t-1000e now. I’m going to bring it to battle bots tonight.
Idk if I’m doing something wrong but I’ve picked up nodes and repeaters in Seattle but not in Van lol
Yea, I had the same thing happen. One of the first repeaters was a 7 hop node in Seattle. I’m not sure why. Just keep it running for a while and i’ll find the close ones too.
I’ve set up my T-Deck Plus and can see lots of nodes in BC and Washington. Also sent and received messages in the Public room.
I generated some map tiles for the Lower Mainland and northern Washington so the node map looks cool. Unfortunately you need to pay for an unlock code to zoom any closer than what’s shown in the photo. Seems like a few other T-Deck features are locked.
Next up is trying out MeshOS.
Is anyone able to message me at MAJICJ001 it the Public Room? Does VHS have a Room server?

I’d like to join a VHS channel, no idea how to make one.
I’m new to this, but I’ve set up a channel.
Can you set up a channel on your device and try sending a message?

I know we shouldn’t be posting keys publicly but figured it ok for a quick test. We can regenerate the key and decide how to distribute the key later
Offline Map Tiles for BC + Washington — z6 to z12
PNG XYZ tiles covering the Lower Mainland BC and Northern Washington region, rendered from OpenStreetMap data using Planetiler + TileServer GL. Standard XYZ directory structure (tiles/{z}/{x}/{y}.png).
-
Zoom levels: 6–12
-
Tile count: 2,183 tiles
-
Total size: ~34 MB
-
Format: PNG, Web Mercator (EPSG:3857)
-
Tested on: LilyGo T-Deck Plus running MeshCore
I’m still working out zoom level display issues on the T-Deck Plus — only 5 of 7 levels are currently rendering. You’ll also need an unlock key to see the higher zoom levels.
Geographic Coverage Description
This polygon extract covers southwestern British Columbia and northwestern Washington State.
It includes:
-
All of Vancouver Island, from the west coast near Cape Scott to the southern tip near Victoria
-
The Lower Mainland (Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey, Delta)
-
The Sea-to-Sky corridor, including Squamish and Pemberton
-
Inland British Columbia eastward to Revelstoke
-
Western Washington south to Olympia
The western boundary extends offshore into the Pacific Ocean by approximately 8–12 km to preserve coastline continuity and ferry routes while minimizing unnecessary open-ocean data.
Let me know if you want a copy of the tile files. Just need to be dropped onto your microSD card
