Lower the table saw

Recently on slack someone lowered the height of the bandsaw to match the height of the work tables around it. Very convenient!

Is it a good idea to do the same to the table saw?

I’d also like to see it attached to the table on which it stands so that it feels more safe.

That’d definitely help when cutting large pieces, depending on where your cut needs to be you can end up with lots of material hanging in the air. If it matches the wood table then you’d have lots of options for stabilizing.

I’m pretty sure the center table is 1-2" lower than the other tables. :unamused:

I like this idea, @iMakeRobots. The table saw pretty much lives on that wooden stand anyway, so it should just be fastened to it. The legs could then be cut down so that the overall height matches the other bench.

Not just the other bench. In my ideal all the tables in that room should
match the height of the work benches in other parts of the space.

If I remember correctly, the table in the center of the room was built for people to do other types of woodwork. (planing? working with the vise?)

I think the table saw was put on top of it because it was a convenient place to put it.

Maybe build a separate support for the table saw?

Speaking as a short person, I definitely agree that it should be lower, so that it will be easier to work on!

Up or down, my vote is for making sure all the work surfaces are at the same level, including the free standing horse stands.

and yes, +1 for bolting the table saw down. I did have an incident where the table saw almost fell off the stand while I was moving the whole thing around.
