Looking for speakers at Innovation Labs!

Hello VHS,

As a member earlier last year it was a great experience to see the awesome work you are doing. I am sending out an invitation to the community for expert speakers on emerging technology for our Autumn Season of lectures, that happen every other Wednesday, at 6pm-8pm. The next one runs on Wednesday, October 22 next week, and additional dates are:
November 5
November 19
December 3

We’d especially like to find speakers in the areas of drones and the Internet of Things. Additionally, cool tech like aero/hydroponics, embedded medical devices or soft robotics would be interesting. Or something crazy and out-there!

From what I saw at VHS it’s the right place to ask!

As a speaker, you will get to interact with fellow thought leaders and eclectic thinkers, ranging from self-taught artists to CEOs and political figures - you will gain insight on new applications and ideas outside your specialty.

The events are hosted at Microsoft’s Development Centre on Cambie & Robson (840 Cambie). Alternatively, if you are in Metro Vancouver, transit-accessible, and can host a group of 30 or so people, it can be done at your location.

If you would like to attend as a guest, make sure to register at our meetup page. It’s been a rapid growth of members, from 12 last September to 428 as of now. When lectures are announced, they usually fill up within an hour (our space at Microsoft limits us to around 30 guests).

Do you pay your speakers?
I like being paid for my work.

Hello funvill, good to see you again!

To answer your question, no the speakers are not paid. But there is also no fee to attend the lectures, so I encourage and welcome you to join in and see them in action. For our previous speakers, they found the experience useful - they gained valuable (and lucrative) advice and new contacts from the events. And it was just a lot of fun too.
