I’m looking to see if people would be interested in a wood lathe in March. I would be running this in a similar manner to the Wood Bending class, ie I’m not a professional, but I’ve learned a bit and I’d like to share. My goal is for small class sizes (somewhere between 2 and 4 people per session) and it would be taught as a hands-on class where you ideally walk away with:
- The knowledge of how to safely operate the wood lathe.
- The knowledge of how to use a few lathe tools.
- The ability to return to the space and operate the wood lathe.
Number 3 is the tricky part, and why I’m gauging for interest. As far as I know, there are no wood lathe tools owned by VHS. I have purchased my own, but I wish for those to remain my own. I’m considering buying some second-hand tools to donate to VHS.
Unfortunately, for that to work, I would need to charge a nominal fee for materials and acquiring a minimal set of tools for VHS.
Given all this, would you be interested in a $20 2-3 hour class on how to operate the wood lathe?
Thanks,
-Mike
