Interest check: Group build of a Raspberry Pi handheld gaming console?

Hey folks!

I’ve had a hankerin’ to build a Raspberry Pi based video game console for some time; today I saw a few examples that motivated me to get over the hump enough to post this!

A couple options that look good:

PiGRRL 2 from Adafruit, uses a regular Pi2/3 and a bunch of modular bits wired together.

  • I’d probably go with an alternative case to fit an 18650b cell instead of the 1S Lipo specc’d

Kite’s Circuit Sword uses a Pi Compute Module 3 for the business end and an all-in-one board to do everything else.

Not sure what the cost on these looks like just yet.

WDYT?

So this is around $351.75 CAD, is this a typical price for this sort of project?

I don’t know if it’s typical, but it’s at least double what I’d be willing to pay.
