We had Marvin at the bunker and there have already been a few suggestions for this location, but it would be great to have a tangible process that showcases what we do at VHS.
@Jarrett already mentioned the high-five-bot, but how many other people are interested in doing a group project to actually make something? Are people looking for a project and want to help? I have a bunch of stuff from Marvin that could be put to use as well.
Marvin used an accelerator to measure the movement of the Door.
What sensor are we going to use here? We could use proximity sensor, IR led
beam, or something else to detect the door opening
and closing.
I think an IR led beam, might be the simplest and would be easy to
interface with the Beagle.
Animation?
I like the led animation, movement is good too.
The greeter needs to greet people.
Of course audio. I would like the a number of theams audo playlist, so
people can select one. I think key holders who open the place should
make the choice
that would be reason enough for me to be a keyholder if spent more time in
Vancouver
The door is often propped open during open nights. I’d imagine that an ultrasonic rangefinder mounded above the door (facing down) would be the most reliable, hassle-free sensor. But then of course you don’t know if someone’s coming or leaving.
