Translink also has a lost property office. Might be best to give it to a transit employee. https://www.translink.ca/Customer-Service/Lost-and-Found.aspx

I do know you can report your registered transit card missing to
translink and then transfer all funds to a new card. I have done that when
I dropped my card on the street.
If you decide to not register your card in order to protect your privacy,
then you can not. And your card is cash.
