Broken shopvac

If we have two working shop vacuums, we don’t need to purchase another one.
Thank you @Janet for looking into this for us.

No worries. I have a soft spot for fixing vacs (as you know)…especially
Roombas.

I had a good look at it and replaced the internal 10A fuse on Sat eve

That’s awesome! Where was the fuse located?

The fuse is right inside the motor in series with the windings.
Normally its an in-line fuse spot welded to the copper wires but this one
has a compression housing for a 1/2inch piece of fuse wire. Not surprised
that it failed!
I replaced it with a 10A automotive fuse which fits snugly in the existing
housing.
Should have taken pics now that I think of it.

Thanks Farrell - that’s great to know. I made it down to the motor but not
inside it. Thanks so much for replacing the fuse! It’s great it’s fixed and
out of the landfill.

I just replaced the filter on it a week or two ago. If it does go in the bin, we should salvage the filter to keep for the next vaccuum, all shop vacs seem to use the same filter system.
