I’ll put together a little something. Stay tuned.
Do you have an arduino or should I put together a kit to buy to build the project?
I gots a kit.
I need to get the gear but I see lots of different arduino models out there and not sure which one I should get.
By all accounts the uno is a good place to start.
Should I grab one of those or is it best to buy a kit when we do the session? Also wondering if we could use an 03 module to control things from the phone or via wifi? Or is this too advanced for a first project?
If I should get one ahead of time, does anybody know the best/ cheapest source for these boards?
If you’re ok with fakes and waiting 30-60 days then aliexpress is the go (this is what I do). Locally Lees is probably your best choice. Best to choose one without the chinese serial chip (although these are getting better).
(not an endorsement, I did buy one of these, not sure if I have used it).
I’ll do a kit I think, and maybe a three-session project with three
distinct projects which work together for a final victory.
Day 1 - LED control.
Day 2 - Inputs.
Day 3 - Servo control
Wait until Dennis puts something together. The kit I have may be overkill
for that.
Thank you! I’m looking forward to it.
Hi Im new to this forum. My name is Shawn, I live in Langley and love computers! I havent browsed around much yet as I just came accros this website for the first time. but this Arduino beginners group post really caught my attention and I signed up so I could get involved in the forum. If you dont mind can you guys fill me in as to when this is and what I should buy to prepare, Also any cost for membership etc I should know about?
I’ve picked up a few from aliexpress for $5 a pop. They have mostly been good. One had a driver issue that took a while to fix but they were definitely worth ordering if you don’t mind the wait.
@shawnsetia this thread has some of the answers, ask anything else you need to know in there.
Cheers,
Tom
So I am still a little unclear as to the best place to buy an arduino for this Sunday’s class, Lee’s or vending machine? Are the ones in the vending machine Unos?
cheers, J
My intro to electronics class will cover some of arduino. I plan to run them every two weeks.
The ones in the vending machine are knock offs. I will have Arduinos available.
Thanks Dan, are they uno’s and how much should I bring?
$30 for the UNOs.
OK, do I also need some other things like a communication cable?
A USB A->B cable connects to Arduino. I will bring some of those, too. There are a small number in the space, but I can’t guarantee enough for everyone.
Lee’s has the UNO wifi for $48, would this complicate things too much if I grab one of those?
